Pomeranian Dog Becomes Internet Celebrity After Being Abandoned By Breeder For Being Too Big To Sell
Dogs are man’s best friends, but some humans treat dogs terribly. How else can one explain the cruelty that some people show toward dogs and animals in general?
Some cruelty is as simple as abandonment. Bertram, a Pomeranian dog, was one of those unfortunate pets.
His breeders decided that, as a puppy, he was “too big to sell” and simply dumped him. Luckily for Bert, New York artist Kathy Grayson noticed the dog on Petfinder and instantly decided to adopt the adorable puppy.
He was initially registered as “Jasper,” and Grayson said there was something about his puppy dog eyes that caught her interest. “I flew to Tulsa and drove to the town to pick him up; it was a wonderful adventure. The shelter was sad to see him go; he definitely received some special extra love there,” she explained.
She wasn’t the only one who thought Bert was special—the internet instantly fell in love with the adorable Pomeranian, and he now has more than 93k followers on Instagram.
He occasionally works as an “art connoisseur” in Kathy’s gallery, The Hole. “I love when people come to the gallery to see Bertie or when they bring their dogs to meet him! The gallery is free and open to the public, so come on by and pet him!” she says.
Kathy isn’t really surprised by her dog’s internet stardom. “Bert is a wonderful guy and makes people happy; the internet and social media are built for cute animals. People need an antidote to all the nastiness.”
When Bertram was just five months old, a dog breeder deserted him.

Because even as a puppy, he was ‘too big to sell.’

Kathy Grayson saw the dog on a pet adoption site and took him to NY, where she owns and runs an art gallery.

“Bert is very calm and chill, inquisitive, and silly,” his owner says.

Bert loves to help Kathy in her art gallery as an art connoisseur.

“I gave him his own Instagram because he was taking over my art gallery page! I need to post paintings, and people just wanted to see Bert.”

Bert enjoys living in NY and has forgotten all about the difficult period of his life.

He recently turned five and had a wonderful birthday celebration.
