Rock music may have originated in the United States, but it’s certainly not enjoyed by Americans only. The genre has garnered fans worldwide with its roots that span other genres of music from different cultures.

Rock is more than just music and has been central to many cultural and social movements. It has also given the world several icons that are still remembered decades after their death or retirement.

For example, many will never forget the Beatles for their timeless music and contributions to rock. Their efforts gave the genre cultural respectability in the public eye.

Unfortunately, many of the greats passed away early, and fans still haven't gotten over their deaths. Iconic rock stars like John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and countless others are still revered by millions worldwide.

Sachs Media Group took things a step further with their Rock and Roll Heaven project, which showcased images of how some late rock stars would look if they were still alive today.

This co-founder of The Beatles would have retired from music and continued his social activism. 

2. Karen Carpenter

Carpenter would have built her career further and may have established a showcase theater in Las Vegas.

3. Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley would have “been an obvious first choice for the Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett superstar duet projects.”

4. Jimi Hendrix

Hendrix would have merged rock with other genres of music to expand the genre.

5. Jim Morrison

Morrison would have taken part in independent filmmaking and loved the punk rock movement of the 1970s. 

6. Bob Marley

If he were to be alive, he would have collaborated with many musicians across multiple genres worldwide. 

7. Bob Darin

Before his death, Darin was increasingly becoming interested in politics, and if he were to be alive, that wouldn’t have stopped.

8. Cass Elliot

Mama Cass would have continued to collaborate with others in group settings.

9. Keith Moon

If he were alive today, The Who would not have broken up in the 1980s.

10. Kurt Cobain

Cobain would have explored fewer commercial projects due to his dislike for the celebrity lifestyle.

11. Dennis Wilson

He would have continued having solo projects alongside being a member of The Beach Boys.

12. Janis Joplin

Rock and Roll Heaven believes Joplin would have “experienced a collapse of some kind in the early 1970s.”
