Welcome back here to another Reddit post that we'll be looking into today and this one is a bit more lighthearted than the others we've covered lately. These posts are always so interesting and there's a lot of information that is posted in the posts themselves and in the comment section as well.
When people come to the AITB thread on Reddit it's usually to get unbiased opinions on their situation to see if they're really in the wrong for how they acted or not. Sometimes it's just best to get an opinion of a stranger.
With this being said, we are looking into a post that was submitted by a girl who was trying to find coverage for a shift and when asked when she got to work why she was trying to find coverage, she told her boss that it was to get drunk and watch TV because she had a pretty bad day.
There was no problem until her coworker said something to her about this and told her that she was abusing the system. So OP just wants to know if she really was in the wrong for this or not.
If you're interested in hearing more then keep on reading as we dive into the post and the comments on this Reddit story.
OP explains the situation quick and simply and gives us all the details we need to make a decision on how we feel.
u/lesbian_moosePeople are assuming that this is taking place in some sort of food establishment and we have to agree just based on these events that played out.
ddh85Mental health days are for your health, so it should be treated as such. People should be more understanding of this in general.
WollyDoodleShe did nothing wrong because she came in when she couldn't get it covered and just worked her shift instead of not showing up.
SansThWildCardFoolThen people came in with their experiences on what happened with their boss' and how they handled this sort of thing.
mockingbird82OP replied to this comment and gave us some more insight into the way that her coworker was thinking whenever she said this to her.
glitter_snakeThe supervisor was obviously just mad about the fact that she tried to call out in general, and probably nothing to do with her "abusing the system."
RedditThey are becoming more recognized but people are still thinking small when it comes to the freedom you have to your own mental health.
BraidedSilverThese people used sick days for literally nothing and they're living their life fine. Just don't make it a habit.
AirbornequalifiedIt seems that everyone is on the same page about this and OP is NTB in this case.
Well, this was an interesting and funny story. People agreed with OP on how she handled the situation, and they said she's not abusing the power at all.
She wanted a mental health day and tried to take one, but nobody would cover it, so she worked. She didn't do anything wrong; the coworker i just salty that she tried to call out.
