From The Depths Of The Sea Came This Big-Eyed Pink Octopus, Looking So Cute They Named It Adorabilis

An octopus is an ocean creature, and they are distinguished by their eight arms and bulbous heads. They have three hearts and their blood is blue.

They also squirt ink to scare off predators, and because they lack bones, they can fit into (or escape from) small spaces. They are highly intelligent creatures, and each limb of the majority of octopus species has suction cups on the underside.

The arms have the impression of being independent, as an octopus’s arms instead of its head contain two-thirds of its neurons. That implies that an octopus can concentrate on searching a cave for food with one arm while attempting to open a mussel with the other arm.

This brings us to a little octopus that was recently found in the depths of the ocean. This octopus looked so adorable that scientists chose to name it "Adorabilis"—a name that would be entirely appropriate given how this cephalopod appears.

The researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California were considering what to call the unnamed marine organism because it can survive at depths of up to 1,476 feet.

The choice, though, might be simpler than they initially anticipated because, as you can see from the looks of this gorgeous creature, it is the cutest octopus in the entire world.

The little pink species is now referred to as the flapjack octopus, but researcher Stephanie Bush at the Monterey Bay Institute wants it to be named Opisthotheusis Adorabilis.

Bush is not the only one who finds the tiny creature adorable; several of her coworkers agree with her. People fell in love with the newly discovered octopus as soon as pictures of it started to circulate online, and many of them had the same opinions about its name as the researchers who discovered it.

Adorabilis has a fairytale-like appearance with its big puppy eyes, vivid color, and tiny wing-like fins on the head. I have no doubt that it will soon be a charming cartoon character!

Stephanie Bush stated, saying that she figured since this animal is so cute, she should name it Adorabilis.

"I’m supposed to be this really serious stoic scientist, but I’m still human. It’s just so cute."

One of the simplest parts, according to Bush, is giving it a name. "We have to collect multiple specimens. There’s a lot of counting and measuring, essentially."

Tell me, isn't this the cutest octopus ever?

The adorable octopus has a tiny body that can expand to a diameter of up to 7 inches, making it no bigger than a man’s fist. Although the species was initially discovered in 1990, Dr. Bush is the first to attempt to set it apart from other octopus species.

So tell us, what could be more fitting than Adorabilis?
