Indulge Your Passion For Cats With These Chocolatey Kittens

Cat lovers have different preferences as regards to the color of these fluffy friends of humans. However, whatever your color preference, you cannot fail to be moved by Mama Mars's chocolate family.

Mama Mars is an adorable black cat from the street corners of Cali, but while her past is unknown to her rescuers, her life has become pretty fantastic thanks to her kittens and the care of Mini Cat Town Kitten Rescue director Laura Malone. Mars was in decent shape for a pregnant feral cat when she arrived in foster care, with Laura saying that given her weight and friendliness, she could make the assumption she was regularly catered for by a person, but her paw pads were rough like a cat who had spent considerable time outside.

Mars, on the other hand, has happily abandoned the wild in favor of the comforts of home. With Laura and her family by her side, this dedicated mama cat can concentrate on raising her chocolate and cinnamon-coated kittens.

The kittens were a surprise when Mars was first rescued. Not only were they all female, but they were all dipped in various shades of chocolate and cinnamon.

Baby Ruth is a dense block of smooth and furred chocolate. Hershey is also sheer chocolate, but her fur is a little shaggier, and Reese has the prettiest touch of white on her nose.

A brown kitten born in a stray litter is unusual to come by, but all four kittens being chocolate or cinnamon is utterly strange and unheard of. You might as well have won a golden ticket if you were so lucky!

“Noses and toe beans appear to be a pinkish brown color, which would lead me to tentatively believe that they will not darken to black like Mom, but may remain close to this color,” Laura explained on Instagram.

Brown kittens or cats are uncommon in rescue or shelter homes. Most brown cats are purebreds with long chocolate and cinnamon family roots, with their breeds requiring the color as part of their standard.

Twix, Baby Ruth, Hershey, and Reese were not bred with the unusual brown fur. They were instead a chocolatey surprise of decreased eumelanin production.

The chocolate and cinnamon brown coloring in cats is caused by a genetic mutation of the gene encoding the black pigment. This mutation reduces the amount of eumelanin, the pigment responsible for black coloring, diluting black fur to a brown, lovely color.

For whichever natural selection is at work, these brown kittens are adorable! They aren't feathery mini-panthers like Mama Mars, but they seem to have inherited a lot from her when it comes to paw prints, pure cuteness, and friendliness.

It’s a lovely thing to have pet cats at home. These furry friends are so witty, cute, and interestingly fun to be with as they don’t fail to spice your daily life with the hilarious things they do.

But having them in different shades of chocolate and cinnamon brings a different shade of happiness being around them. You cannot resist the urge to cuddle these chocolate cuties.
