Chonky Pug Pup Can't Fit Through The Doggy Door
A day of reckoning, you might say.

If you know pugs, then there are many things about life with the funny, little dogs that you know are equally interesting, funny, and bizarre. For all the things people think about pugs, the truth is that this breed of dog has not only existed, but flourished since before 400 BC!
Not only are pugs an ancient breed, believed to originate in China, but as time went on they became a favorite breed for European Royalty. It's no wonder, then, that pugs must have a pretty high opinion of themselves, right? As much as a dog is capable of, at least!
Sushi is a pug, who must have had a pretty high opinion of herself.... this is at least until she met a worthy opponent.
Not to be dramatic, of course, Sushi's nemesis turned out to be a doggy door she couldn't overcome.
Rachel WrightAt this point, it's believed that sweet Sushi was living in a world of denial and everyone learned it the hard way.
One day, Sushi's parents were preoccupied with their other dog, it was only a moment, a minute, a blip in time, but they needed to move Sushi to the laundry room so that she wouldn't be a distraction. Which is totally reasonable!
The previous owners of the home this lovely family lived in had installed a pet door in the laundry room, a cat-sized door. The average pug weighs much more than the average house cat, but Sushi was apparently totally unaware that this hole was not Sushi sized.
Milo & Otis / Fuji Television NetworkUnbothered by a seemingly non-obstacle, Sushi took it upon herself to use the convenient pet door to return to her family. In an interview with The Dodo, Sushi's mom, Rachel, said:
"I guess she knew what we were doing and was determined to get through. I heard her scratching and came around the corner."
Rachel turned to see a sight one must see to truly grasp the enormity of the situation and why it's just... hysterical:
Not unlike many creatures from many species before her, Sushi underestimated her girth, her pudge, her chunk, and her chonk.
There was a moment in the video where anyone could see, Sushi had a realization. She was previously, blissfully unaware she was a pudgy pug and now she knew.
"She definitely thinks she can fit through and escape from anything," Rachel said. "I thought it was hilarious. My husband came around the corner and let her out."
The Face Of Self AwarenessRest assured, Sushi was not injured in the incident, unless you count her pride (which, to be fair, you just very well may count her pride, you do you.)
Rachel Wright, an artist and tattoo apprentice, was keenly aware of her beloved pug's emotional conundrum, saying:
"After that, she went on patrol and scanned the perimeter to make sure there wasn’t any fun going on. I’m sure it hurt her pride a little, though."
