Adorable Cats Help Weatherman Work From Home And Subsequently Go Totally Viral
Jeff Lyons thought he was just trying to get through a normal work-from-home forecast, but his cat had other plans. Betty, his longtime feline companion, wandered right into the middle of his weather setup and instantly stole the show.
What started as a simple broadcast from the dining room turned into a viral moment, because Betty was not content to stay in the background. Lyons, his station, and viewers all got a front-row seat to a very determined cat who clearly wanted screen time.
And once Betty made herself at home, the internet could not get enough of her. The only question left is how many more forecasts she plans to interrupt.
Meteorologist Jeff Lyons has recently gone viral once his cat started crashing his weather forecasts!
Before Lyons' station was completely social distancing, he got a glimpse into what working from home with his cat, Betty, would be like.
In a conversation with Bored Panda, Lyons said:
“Working from home has been an adventure. I have my studio and green screen set up in the dining room. It’s nice to have a 30-second commute after the late news!”
“Betty was under the dining room table during one weathercast, and the director asked to see her, so I held her up for the camera. We just had the final 30-second weather to do, so I kept her in my arms just for fun… little did I know!”

This is his setup...
And this is Betty taking center stage!

Betty clearly had no interest in staying off camera.
This is the kind of urgency that matches the Florida firefighters racing to save a trapped kitten before a raging storm.
“Betty just showed up on our windowsill about 11 years ago. My daughter, who was 10 at the time, begged to keep her. I had always had cats growing up, so it was an easy sell; plus, I’m a softie!”
Betty came back for another appearance....
But she was less happy this time!
Just look at her!
That second appearance made Betty even more memorable.
Betty the Weather Cat has even started doing her own forecasts!
But she doesn't love ALL her fans!
On going viral, Lyons said:
“The outpouring for this silly cat has been crazy! I’ve spent 34 years in local TV as a meteorologist, so I am used to being known around this area (southern Indiana), but this is something that has really thrown me for a loop!”

Betty may be viral, but she still has her limits.
