Midas has six siblings, and they were brought into the world by a stray feline mother in the back nursery of a home located in Turkey. The place was owned by a friend of Canis Dosemeci, and as soon as Canis saw little Midas and her extra ears, she realized that this one-of-a-kind cat was meant to be part of her family in the way she had always hoped for.

Canis told Reuters that they "had never thought of buying a cat; we just wanted to rescue a cat from the street, and we wanted to adopt her."

After Midas was rescued, she visited the vet for a checkup and an assessment of her amazing ears. Because she was born with an additional set of ears, the vet determined that their development was due to a genetic mutation, and this will not affect her hearing.
