There are so many things involved in getting the perfect wedding ceremony.
From selecting bridesmaids to picking the right dress for the bride and even the bridesmaids, it’s certainly not a walk in the park.
However, when a person is in good company, it’s easy to enjoy all the stress involved in planning a wedding.
One of the essential things a bride-to-be has to do when planning a wedding is to get along with her bridesmaids. Haha, you didn’t see that coming. Did you?
As exciting as weddings are, they heightened tensions, and navigating relationships during this period can be difficult. So sometimes, it may take extra effort to get along with your bridesmaids, despite how close you may already be.
What happens when it’s them, not you who’s causing the tension, though? We found a Reddit post that may answer this question for you.
A woman shared that she took her bridesmaids dress shopping and was going to pay for the dresses. Unfortunately, one of her bridesmaids, Kacy, ripped a dress at the store.
To Kacy’s dismay, OP then told her she wasn't going to pay the $250 charge for the damaged dress.
As you may have predicted, this didn’t go down well with Kacy, and she wasted no time expressing it, even though the other bridesmaids disagreed with her.
Let’s see how the rest of this story unfolds.

Dress shopping gone wrong
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comIn preparation for her wedding, OP decided to take her bridesmaids shopping. And so her fiancée's (John) mom and aunt tagged along
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comWhile looking out for dresses to try on, one of her bridesmaids (Kacy) wasn't happy that the dresses she wanted weren't available in her size. And so she insisted on squeezing herself into smaller sizes
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comUnfortunately, this decision didn't end well. Kacy squeezed into and damaged a dress, which attracted a $250 charge to OP's bill
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comOP made it clear to Kacy that she wasn't going to pay for the damaged dress, and that it would be her responsibility to do so. John's mom and aunt stepped in to defend Kacy, but OP stood her ground
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comJohn's aunt, who happens to be Kacy's mum, ended up paying for the dress. But it was clear that the atmosphere wasn't the friendliest after that
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comThe post, which has since gone viral, garnered over 10k up votes and almost a thousand comments. Here's how other users responded:
"Her irresponsibility is not your responsibility"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comVery strange logic
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"NTA. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"Time to have a serious calm discussion with you groom. She shouldn't be your bridesmaid anymore"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"NTA. I mean what is Kacy’s Aunt’s logic?"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"No, she’s not wrong about the sizing issues in the fashion industry: it’s bad enough that there are academic journal articles written about the problem"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"NTA. I'm sorry, but being in denial about one's size does not grant you the right to damage property after you were warned at least once"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"The most concerning part is: Kacy's aunt (and to a certain extent John's mother) essentially said that Kacy wouldn't be there around these dresses in the first place if it wasn't for me"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"If she hit a parked car in the parking lot of the dress store, would you have to pay since she would only be in that lot and around those cars because of your wedding? No way"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"I can't believe anyone told you this was your fault just because you had her come try on dresses"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"She caused all of the problems, so you should not be the one to be held accountable"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"Kacy ripped the dress, that means she pays for it. Your only responsible for the actual bridesmaid dress for the wedding"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"Speaking as a plus size girl, it can be hard to accept sizing sometimes. However, she is blaming everyone but herself"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.com"The girl needs a serious reality check"
YellowRedundancy / reddit.comThere's a consensus in the community that OP is not in the wrong here.
Some even accused Kacy's mother and aunt of enabling her for a long time and using weird logic in their defense.
While Kacy's mum ended up paying for the dress, we don't doubt that there's still some bad blood regarding the issue for all parties involved. We hope they all can ultimately settle their differences, as they will be family soon.
