Last February, when a 31-year-old Nigerian mother went into labor, she had no idea that a huge surprise awaited her. Thanks to this pleasant turn of events, the mother never had a problem distinguishing her twin sons. Born just minutes apart, Daniel and David look completely different from each other except for their big brown eyes.

The beautiful twins' parents, Stacy and Babajide reside in Lagos and are both black. However, one of their babies was born with albinism. For that reason, the unique pair make heads turn every time they're out in public.

Daniel has dark skin and black curly hair but David surprisingly has white pale skin and golden locks.Stacy shares the adventures of the adorable duo on Instagram. The twins managed to amass almost 18k followers over a period of just a year.

Daniel and David were born on February 26, 2019 and they surprised everyone

“We did not know about their differences while I was pregnant, the scan did not show such so it was a huge surprise and the most amazing moment when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) came out with gold hair. I had them through CS, so the doctors were like: “It seems you are having totally unidentical twins.” Before I knew it, nurses started coming out to look at them,” Stacy told Bored Panda.

Stacy's husband had a heartwarming reaction to this unexpected situation:

“Their dad was really overwhelmed and immediately named My Twin 2 (David) ‘Golden,’ so he fondly calls him Mr. Golden. He was all overjoyed seeing his boys. He stood for more than 10 minutes staring at them and said he was just looking at God’s wonderful work and that they are his best gift ever.”

David has a genetic condition called albinism. The prevalence of albinism in the world is around 1 in 20,000

Albinism is a congenital disorder caused by the complete or partial absence of melanin, the pigment in the skin, hair, and eyes. It can occur in all racial and ethnic groups with a variation in the level of pigmentation depending on the type it belongs to. The prevalence of albinism in the world is around 1 in 20,000. Albinos have to be extremely careful since their condition can include numerous skin and vision complications.

The type David has is called oculocutaneous albinism (OCA). Stacy confirmed that thankfully, David doesn't suffer from any medical complications.

The unique pair always stand out from the crowd in Lagos. People often think that only one of the babies is Stacey's.

“There’re always side talks whenever we go out, people often wanna know how and what’s happening and maybe due to their cute and adorable nature, you just wanna come close to say hello.”

The family has been receiving a lot of opportunities from kids’ clothing brands and modeling agencies from the UK. They are open to help raise awareness and spread their joy with the world.

“We opened an account for them because we believe they have a story to tell to the world and also as a way of creating awareness,” said Stacy.

“They have two different amazing personalities, they are a year+ now, walking and very playful,” said Stacy

“Daniel is more expressive while David is an observer. Both of them are highly inquisitive. Daniel is a foodie while David is quite picky; Daniel is extremely playful while David chooses moments; Daniel always likes to play the bigger brother role; they are both energetic.”
