It's no surprise that people have started comparing 2020-2021 to a random sci-fi TV series or some sort of strange, dystopian book for a good few months now. After all, we kicked off the year with Australia almost being wiped out by horrific bush fires. Then came COVID-19, which, let's face it, doesn't need much of an explanation. And now, America is losing control as people are rioting in the streets to protest the killing of George Floyd.
If we weren't living it, we could be forgiven for thinking all of this was a screenplay for a new movie. But it's the reality that is everything going on right now in the world.
Recently, Netflix realized the similarities between the world's recent events, and it's series 'Black Mirror.' The streaming company has released a haunting ad using the idea that the show's 6th season is, in fact, just reality.
Black Mirror's creator, Charlie Brook, broke the hearts of fans worldwide when he announced that season 6 of the show would be postponed.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on any of those Black Mirror episodes,” he explained.
“I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
