Dramatic Portraits Of Black Shelter Dogs Bring Out Their Overlooked Beauty And Elegance

Animal photographer Shaina Fishman shared her eye-opening portraits of black rescue dogs in her project named Overlooked Black Dogs. The project features various beautiful and adoptable dogs with the purpose to bring light to their beauty, and stop the black dog syndrome.

In this collection of portraits, Shaina managed to skillfully capture the incredible look and personality of each pup. The dogs are posing in front of a black background with the perfect lighting, which brings out their luscious fur and expressive eyes.

This monochromatic theme adds an element of calmness to the portraits and puts an emphasis on the dogs' dark color. It also showcases the patience these adorable dogs have as they wait to find their new homes.

The series was created in collaboration with Foster Dogs NYC to increase black dogs' chance of adoption. Most potential adopters use pictures to find possible new pets, and black dogs are difficult to photograph which results in an unrealistically poor depiction of these dogs.

Fishman being a professional animal photographer, wanted to try to fix this problem through this project. Many of the dogs featured here have been adopted since the series was shared, giving hope to Foster Dogs NYC and Fishman that we can get rid of this bias through better photography and an increase in awareness.

We hope you enjoyed the pics you've seen so far because I know we did. Seeing these wonderful dogs can really make you wonder why anyone would have a negative opinion about them.

But lots of people still have this stigma about black dogs that makes them think they're all super scary and dangerous. It's very important to try to change that opinion and we hope these photos can truly make a difference.

If you're still not convinced that these dogs are as adorable as they get there are more photos waiting for you, and an incredible video to top it all off.

Too cool to look at the camera.

Check out this video featuring these wonderful pups and a powerful message.

These portraits have been a treat to look at. Every single photo is a work of art on its own, and when put together it makes for a truly wonderful collection that we're happy to have had a chance to go through these.

Fishman has once again proved just what an incredible photographer she is. Not only do the photos look great, but they also raise awareness about a big issue we have which is the "black dog syndrome".

She wanted more people to pay attention to this and she found the best way to do it. We believe that this collection can make a difference.
