Scottish cartoonist and illustrator Tom Gauld has a gift for combining amusement with thought-provoking imagery. He makes comics about literature, art, science, and other topics that are lighthearted and occasionally thoughtful.
Tom is a well-known author whose works are frequently included in esteemed journals, including The Guardian, The New Yorker, and New Scientist. The artist goes ahead to say that:
"I love telling stories and making people laugh, and comics are such an interesting way of doing that. I'm still always learning new ways to communicate through comics and getting inspired by the way other artists make their comics."
Being an artist does not ensure that ideas will come to you all the time; sometimes, people run into blockages, and Tom is no different. The artist revealed that he makes an effort to persevere during times like this.
"I try to keep making things even if I'm not sure if they're any good. Sometimes I feel something is really awful but then I look at it again the next day and realize it's not bad, or I realize what needs to be fixed. I also go for a walk to get a change of scene, and maybe work in a coffee shop for a while."
Scroll down to be enthralled with his spectacular fusion of wit, cunning, and whimsy cos you'll be glad you did.
