It is always much better to make your own stuff instead of buying it from retail stores. There's no better feeling than when you finish a DYI project and see the fruits of your work, something that you created with your own hands and ended up looking way more than decent.
Another important aspect is quality, when you buy an object from some other source, nothing can guarantee you that the product will last long enough. However, when you make it yourself, you can make sure that it's as steady as you want it to be so that it never randomly breaks.
Wood is very versatile and it can be used for many woodworking projects such as crafts, jewelry, or DIY home decor projects. People online have managed to create the most amazing woodworking DIY projects and some of them definitely belong in museums.
/r/woodworking is a forum that encourages people to share their woodworking knowledge and projects with each other. Some of the submissions on the forum are truly mindblowing and are more art pieces than they are furniture.
Scroll down and check them out! These people are incredibly talented and they're taking full advantage of their gifts.

These DIY projects must have taken ages to finish. They seem quite complex and getting them to look as flawless as most of them did probably takes a lot of time, but that shouldn't matter as long as they're satisfied with the end result of their DIY project.
The people who made the DYI projects above should seriously think about selling their designs. They would make tons of money because their stuff looks like it has better quality than most of the furniture you can buy in stores.
