On social media, you always see these great Airbnbs around the world that are just beautiful and have something that you won't get in hotels that make it seem like the experience is always pleasant. However, the reality is that renting an Airbnb is always a gamble.
Aside from the views, the pricing, and the unique features of the rental, there are also so many things to consider, like the area's safety and the host's trustworthiness. Before putting your money in one, you have to do plenty of background research to make sure your stay won't be a terrible one.
Also much like any accommodation, you should always be ready for a hitch here or there. No matter the faults of Airbnbs though, it's not common for the company to ask you to check out only after spending one night in your rental.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to TikToker _spookytooth and her boyfriend. They were so sure they rented out a great place and then after spending one night there, they got the message asking them to check out of that place ASAP.
The weird thing is that the host just told them to ignore the company's message. Here's the whole story.
It all started out fine
TikTok user _spookytooth or Carol usually posts makeup and tattoo-related videos on her account given that she's the manager of a tattoo shop but recently, she posted about her Airbnb experience while on a vacation in the Philly area which has got people talking.
It all started when she and her boyfriend rented "a room in a large home that the host also lived inside of and was home the entire time" through Airbnb. Shortly after checking in, however, Airbnb started messaging them to leave immediately.
_spookytoothAirbnb kept sending them messages overnight
The couple checked in in the evening then later in the evening, Airbnb kept sending them messages urging them to check out of the place ASAP. Airbnb also gave them a call later on in the morning, however, they slept through it all.
When they finally woke up and saw all the missed calls and messages from Airbnb, the couple started to panic. Strangely enough, they also received messages from their host telling them to ignore any messages from Airbnb.

_spookytoothAccording to the Airbnb owner, a recent guest reported some negative and dangerous but inaccurate things about their Airbnb
_spookytoothAirbnb also wouldn't get specific about what they were told or what the violations were but in the end, the couple did get a super nice exchange for the experience

People on TikTok mostly think that the couple was right to act swiftly and follow the instructions of Airbnb. After all, the company wouldn't have acted as such if it wasn't a serious matter.
A lot of people also think that the host's messages were shady and didn't properly explain everything. Here are some of the top comments.
The owner was just waving a huge red flag
camdenThey already knew that the Airbnb was going to get flagged
KaiOh, the hosts definitely know more than they're letting on
That would've warranted a huge violation

Daniel Kaluuya Fan ClubWhile there are many great things with Airbnbs, there are also a lot of cons that you have to consider if you want to stay in them. You always have to be prepared to act on your feet if anything happens.
Luckily for this couple, although they weren't able to follow Airbnb's orders immediately, they still acted fast and were able to get themselves out of a potentially dangerous situation.
