Donald Trump’s Unexpected Connection To The Royal Family And The Late Queen

A recent deep dive into Donald Trump’s ancestry shows precisely that: the former president may have more in common with British royalty than most people realize.
It turns out that Trump, now 78, isn’t just joking when he carries himself like a king; his roots actually trace back to the British aristocracy, and specifically to Queen Elizabeth II. During his first term in office, from 2017 to 2022, Trump, his wife Melania, and the late monarch crossed paths on several state visits to the UK.
One memorable moment came at Buckingham Palace, where the Queen amused onlookers by doing an uncanny impression of Melania, mimicking her accent and mannerisms so well that people were whispering, “That’s Melania—only it’s her Majesty!”
But the real surprise comes from a new report by the Suffolk Gazette, whose reporters spent months digging through archives, wills, land deeds, and family photos. They traced Trump’s lineage back to his great-great-grandfather, Archibald “Archie” Trump, who in 1827 bought eight acres of farmland in West Newton, a small village on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. Archie worked that land alongside his sons Abraham and Henry until he died in 1879 at age 68.
The president is the father of five children.
When Archie passed away, his son Henry took over. Even then, Henry was known for his sharp eye for business. He eventually sold the farm back to the Sandringham Estate, which had been the royal family’s country retreat since 1868, and moved his own family to Scotland’s Isle of Lewis. Henry’s son Isaac was part of that move.
On Lewis, Isaac Trump had three daughters. One of them, Mary Anne, left Scotland in 1930 for the United States, where she found work as a house servant.
Six years later, she married Frederick Trum, a successful property developer whose family had emigrated from Germany to New York. The couple had five children, the fourth of whom would become the 45th and later the 47th President of the United States.

Trump’s second marriage, to Marla Maples, a Georgia-born actress and TV personality, produced one daughter, Tiffany. Tiffany is now expecting her first child with husband Michael Boulos.
His third and current marriage is to Melania Knauss, a former model from Slovenia. They have one son together, Barron, who just turned 19 and is studying at NYU’s Stern School of Business after finishing at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.
