Cats are lifelong companions, and our love for our kitty friends is undeniable. On average, household cats live 13-17 years and that's a plentiful time to love on our cats.
Sometimes, life interferes with our ability to bond with our cats for over a decade, for example: natural disasters. People lose their lives, loved ones, homes, belongings. Everything. Losing a living being, human or animal, of course is the worst-case scenario.
That’s what happened to this older woman in Italy. Her name is Dora, and after a powerful earthquake struck central Italy a few years ago, her home was unfit to live in, and she had to be displaced.
And in all the chaos and confusion that came after the disaster, her beloved cat went missing, with no hope to be found. In the larger picture, it's hard to imagine how painful that must have been for both the woman and the cat, but when you reflect on the love you have for your own cats, it's much easier to empathize.
But, not long ago, her luck changed. The reunion was heartwarming.
A person close to Dora shared a post on social media that says her long-lost kitty had reappeared at last and brought this, once a sad story, to the happiest end.
"Our dear Dora has never stopped looking for him," Mimma Bei, Dora'sDora's friend, said. "Who knows where he had have been for so long."
Watch the video of that emotional reunion:
Luckily, Dora’s cat seems to be in good health despite the fact he was on the street for so long. And if there are any emotional consequences, they will undoubtedly be taken care of now that he is back with his loving human.
