Though we don't always look for beauty, beauty is still in the eyes of the beholder. A towering, freshly grilled burger, true crime documentaries, and horror movies are all "beautiful," but maybe not to everyone's taste.

When painters began experimenting with more "strange" styles and images in the early 20th century, several social groups reacted negatively.
