These Employers Have Hilariously Unrealistic Expectations From The Job Applicants

Job interviews are never easy, and some recruiters are working hard to make them even more difficult by posting ads with some unrealistic criteria. Some ads look like they have been written for superhumans, who would work free or even pay the employer for the privilege of being part of their company.

It seems that the employers have gone even more ruthless over the years, and their expectations are snowballing. The sad part is that, with the current crisis, things are not likely to improve any time soon.

Some time ago, Sebastián Ramírez posted one job ad with extremely unrealistic expectations. A company was looking for a person who had 4+ years of experience with FastAPI. Now, the thing is that Sebastián created FastAPI 1,5 years ago, so even he, the creator, couldn’t apply for the job.

And, sadly, this is not that uncommon. We have collected some unrealistic job posts from all over the internet, and they are just unbelievable.

Landing a good job was never easy, but with the current situation, it will become more challenging than ever. But let’s face it, job ads like these are best to be avoided.

A person who comes up with things like these, or allows their employees to write down and post all these nonsense, is not likely to be a good employer.

We completely understand that the recruiters want to find the “perfect” candidate. Still, unrealistic expectations about the applicants can do more harm than good: the person who may be perfect for the job will not apply because his experience is “insufficient.”

British recruitment professionals Brand Recruitment said that companies want a good return on their investment. But they frequently “don’t actually know what they’re looking for at all.”

Their job descriptions can look like a “5-year-old’s Christmas list, with bullet point after bullet point of everything they MUST have.”

Recruiters must be realistic about job performance. If possible, they want to find a new staff member who can do the job without or with minimum training.

They do not want to bother with people who have a lot of potential but require development and guidance. Unfortunately, some real gems stay undetected that way.
