Matthew B, a truck driver from Texas has the best travel companion ever - his three-year-old cat named Ashes. Matthew and Ashes share an incredibly close bond. So much so, that Ashes spends his days traveling cross-country with his human dad.
However, a couple of months ago during one of their trips, something devastating happened. Ashes became spooked in unfamiliar surroundings and slid out of Matthew's 18-wheeler by accident as they were traveling through Springfield, Ohio.
Naturally, Matthew was frantic, and he searched tirelessly for his best friend, but he eventually had to admit defeat and get back to work.Little did he know, a Christmas miracle was heading his way.
For two months, Matthew rearranged his routes so that he could go back to the spot in Ohio where Ashes was last seen. But the cat was unable to be found.

Just when Matthew had most likely lost hope, a kind lady named Kimberly noticed Ashes trying to get a stranger's attention. “He was trying to not put his feet down on the ground, it was so cold,” she said. Kimberly put Ashes in her car and took him to the animal rescue organization, Lollypop Farm.

Luckily, Ashes was microchipped which enabled him to be linked back to Matthew even though he was 1,465 miles away from home.

“Our Admissions Team immediately scanned for a microchip, as they do with all incoming pets. Not only did he have one, but he had an owner who had registered him under a Texas address that was over 1,465 miles away! This was one cross-country kitty,” said the organization.

Matthew burst into tears of relief as he hugged Ashes. He called it his "Christmas miracle."
