Parents are understandably alarmed when their child steals. Parents are also concerned about what led to their child stealing because no one wants their child to be a "juvenile delinquent."

It is common for a very young person to become interested in something that piques their curiosity. But until the child is old enough to comprehend that taking something that belongs to someone else is bad, this shouldn't be considered theft.

Children should be actively taught about others' rights to property and consideration for others by their parents. This is because parents serve as role models as well.

Your lessons on honesty will be much more difficult for your kid to understand if you are not a good example or if you boast of the wrong things. Some will say that stealing is typically a common behavioral problem that many children experience but the circumstances and your child's age will determine how you react to theft.

The OP had a cookout at his place, but then his daughter's switch went missing. The OP contacted family members, and his wife’s sister, Kara, said that their daughter gave it as a gift to her son Stevie.

The OP asked his daughter, and she said it wasn’t true while explaining what really happened. This means her son stole the switch, but Kara refused to give it back, saying that OP's daughter is too old to play it.

The OP got the police involved, and you can read the full story below.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:

I might have gone overboard to call my uncle on Stevie and letting him get traumatized over it.

It's actually appropriate to contact the police when someone robs you because Kara took the Switch by allowing her kid to retain it. Besides, what else was the OP supposed to do after someone refused to return something they clearly took without permission?

Redditors say that Kara alone is to blame as she is the only one at fault. The OP was declared not the AH, and that's where we draw the curtains.
