“To infinity, and beyond!”
Pixar has been making brilliant animation films since 1995 with the release of Toy Story. Since then they have released films that capture the imagination of children until they are long into adulthood.
Many videos have been made talking about theories within Pixar films but none of their films were more analysed than the Toy Story films themselves and that is because of how immersive the world of those movies are. With how immersive the films world is and how many people across multiple generations enjoy them, who wouldn’t want to stay in a hotel designed to resemble many settings in the films.
Tokyo Disneyland is making this fantasy a reality that’ll seem like a dream come true.
The original Toy Story film was released on the 22nd November 1995 and recently the franchise has seen a lot of resurgence with the upcoming Toy Story 4, Toy Story Land opening in Disney's Hollywood Studios that opened on 30th June 2018 and the topic of this article the Toy Story hotel set to open in Tokyo in 2021. A Toy Story hotel has already been opened in Shanghai (in Shanghai Disneyland) on the 16th June 2016 and has been described as an immersive experience and the Tokyo hotel is sure to bring that same faithfulness to the feel of the franchise that the other Toy Story branded items have upheld.
The Tokyo Toy Story is currently unnamed but according to a press release by Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (the owners and operators of Tokyo Disneyland) the concept of the hotel "involves Andy embarking on the ultimate backyard project: a building to house all of his toys". The concept apparently includes the additional backstory that Andy is called away from Toy Tower by his mum allowing his toys to open the doors to the toys of the world (a similar concept to the other Toy Story hotels). Although very little is actually known about the hotel, it is reportedly going to contain 600 rooms for guest that will be high colour and apparently look as if everything was constructed by toys. As well as this the hotel will also reportedly contain "other immersive experiences" from the universe of Toy Story filling various spaces and characters like Woody and Buzz will apparently make an appearance. Whilst it has not been confirmed to be Pizza Planet, (although, how cool would that be) Toy Story themed dining options are said to be included.
Whilst very little is known about the final design, the descriptions given sound roughly like what Disneyland Shanghai has constructed. Featured below are some videos that show off the Shanghai hotel.
