It's a crossover episode!
Comic books and animated movies can be unfairly labeled as "childish interests." These two mediums of storytelling also have some of the most complex worlds we can get lost in at any time.
The outdated idea that they are special hobbies for nerds and geeks is slowly getting phased out. Thanks to the box-office-breaking records of superhero movies, these formerly ridiculed genres are becoming mainstream.
Marvel and DC movies have probably changed the landscape of superhero cinema in the foreseeable future. They are constantly churning out hits after the other to the delight of their millions of fans.
Even when you are not familiar with the entire backstory of the superhero in question, you can easily follow along with other avid fans. That's the magic of dynamic and visual storytelling.
The two comic supergiants do not have a monopoly on these mesmerizing visuals and enigmatic stories. Studio Ghibli is arguably of the same caliber when it comes to blowing the minds of its viewers.
If superhero movies are rooted in, well, in superheroes, Studio Ghibli films take inspiration from everywhere. Some of their movies are based on books, Eastern & Western folktales, and then set on the Studio's unique hand-drawn animations.
Studio Ghibli's films are touching, sometimes eerie, but never forgettable. Similar to DC and Marvel movies, their unique take on fantasy commands millions of fans all over the world.
We highly doubt that these crossovers will occur in the near future but in case they ever do, the studios know where to find OP. We look forward to what kind of art his relationship with his Ghibli-fan girlfriend yields in the future.
We can't wait to see more characters. Which one would you like to see?
What about Batman?
