R. Kelly's Daughter Speaks Out Against 'Monster' Father

R. Kelly's daughter, Buku Abi (born Joann Kelly) has broken her silence as the controversial documentary, 'Surviving R. Kelly' was released this month.

The 20 year old daughter, who R. Kelly shares with ex-wife Andrea 'Drea' Kelly, spoke out in a lengthy Instagram story. Though the story is no longer visible, it made a huge impact for the 24 hours that the world has access to it.

The statement has also caused major waves for R. Kelly and his supporters who have proclaimed his innocence and vehemently denied the multiple allegations against the 'Pied Piper' which have seen him labelled a child-molester and pedophile.

The documentary heard from countless women who claimed to be victims of R. Kelly's sexual deviancy, some saying he began abusing them when they were as young as 13. The documentary also alleged the Kelly now keeps a harem of women in his home, labelling them as members of his sex cult.

During the lengthy statement, Buku stated that neither she, nor her mother and siblings have any kind of relationship with her father and that it had been years since any of them had spoken to or seen him .

Buku also apologised for being silent for so long, stating that it wasn't out of carelessness, while also explaining that she was devastated.

She ended by thanking her followers for their support and for helping her family 'push through this hard time' explaining that the past year has been extremely difficult as more allegations began to surface.

In the wake of these new allegations and the recently released documentary, demonstrators have taken to the streets outside Kelly's Chicago studio to call for a boycott of Kelly's music by both radio and internet music streaming services including Apple Music and Spotify. The hashtag #MuteRKelly was also trending.
