Meet Kratu, an adorable rescue dog. He is not a first-timer at Crufts, and all of his appearances so far showed that he is not exactly competitive, he is more interested in having fun. His last performance proved that again.
The cute was performing in the non-competitive part, the rescue dog agility course, led by his trainer Tessa Eagle Swan at the Birmingham NEC show.
The crowd was delighted watching Kratu as he runs around the arena without a plan, didn’t pay attention to the jumps, was hiding in a tunnel, and finally - grabbed one of the poles from a jump obstacle and hauled it around with him.
First held in 1891, Crufts is an annual international dog competition conducted in the United Kingdom. It is the biggest exhibition of its sort anywhere in the world, organized and presented by The Kennel Club.
The major event at Crufts is a championship dog conformation show. It also has a sizable trade expo with a focus on products and services for dogs, as well as dog agility, obedience, flyball, and heelwork to music contests. Additionally, the annual Friends for Life competition, which honors unsung canine heroes, and the finals of the crossbreed competition Scruffts are both revealed at Crufts.
It takes place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Solihull, England, from Thursday to Sunday in early March.
This dog deserves a solid 10/10 for enthusiasm and charm, and many dog-lovers agree:
One person wrote: "Love this pup. No f***s given. He's there for fun, doing his own thing."
A second said: "I absolutely love this dog truly bring such happiness to us."
And the third chipped in: "This pup is having the best time and thoroughly enjoying his life! Giant puppy hug!"
Kratu is a Carpathian-Mioritic cross, and he was rescued from Romania by the Wood Green Animal Shelter.
Tessa said that she began talking to Kratu over WhatsApp before he even came to the UK. She clarified:
"We rescued Kratu when he was a few weeks old from a very dangerous situation. He went in to foster with my friend and I would talk to him using WhatsApp."
"I used to sing him songs and send him voice messages. When he arrived back with me in the UK, he was familiar with my voice, and we bonded instantly."
It is quite obvious from the video above that training Kratu wasn't easy. Tessa said he is "a big character who will try to do what he wants rather than what I am asking."
Unfortunately, this was Kratus's last performance on Crufts, and he will be retiring from his "successful" competition career. Luckily, he has a twitter page where you can follow his adventures.
Crufts consists of several competitions occurring at the same time. The main competition is for the Best in Show award, which is hotly contested by dogs and their owners throughout the world.
Now, Cratu didn't win this award, but he certainly stole our hearts. And that's what really counts. if you've enjoyed this story, share it with your friends.
