Stray Puppy With A Permanent Squint Is A True Little Hero

A vet in Antigua found a small puppy in a cardboard box in his front entrance, and he immediately saw the puppy was special. The poor puppy had a permanent squint and wrinkled forehead, and it broke and warmed the vet’s heart because he knew what it meant.

He contacted the local rescue Dogs and Cats of Antigua, who took over the puppy and named her Faith. The little puppy was skinny and missing her eyes, but they were determined to take the best possible care of her and find her a loving home.

Special needs dogs and puppies find lasting love and forever homes every day, all over the world. These special dogs just need the chance.

“Normally, a special needs dog like Faith would be immediately put down in the islands. There are few adopters and no money for care,” Kate Venezia, Faith’s foster mom, told the reporters. “Dogs and Cats of Antigua fostered her, paid her vet bills and even convinced the government to let her fly out early so she could get proper medical attention in the U.S.”.

KATE VENEZIA

When Venezia, Faith's foster mom, took her in, she was shocked by how strong-willed the puppy was.

"She was surprisingly good at navigating the house," Venezia told the reporters. "She was pretty fearless but definitely found her way around by sniffing and bumping into things."

"Nothing fazes her," Venezia added. "If she hits something, she just jumps right back up and keeps going."

Faith uses her nose and ears to find her way around Venezia’s home, and always manages to reach her favorite spot - right on top of her Venezia’s feet. “She adores people and wanted to be with me all the time,” she said.

“She can sense if I'm near. She will stick her nose up in the air and sniff around to try to find me. Inside, she will run to someone if she can hear them make a sound in the other room.”

ANIMAL HAVEN

After a complete health check at the Animal Haven, an NYC-based rescue center, Faith was proclaimed ready to get her forever home. And the applications came flooding in as soon as the rescue shared her beautiful photos on Facebook.

Faith has been through a lot, and she deserves a loving home and family that will take good care of her. We know she will find it.
