Pixel's mom started to notice how expressive he was when he was about a year old, it was noticeable because most cats are not as expressive. Pixel would come up with various expressions and whenever he saw a camera, he would flash a smile.

A smile is contagious, Pixel smiled a lot, he literally wore a smile almost every time. This trait endeared him to the hearts of many, it was just adorable.

Immediately Pixel's photo surfaced online, it was love at first sight for everyone who saw him, and there were requests for more. Many thanks to Pixel's mum Kalhagen who hasn't disappointed ever since, she's continued to share his photos on an Instagram page dedicated to Pixel.

During an interview, Kalhagen said, “At first, I wanted to sort of showcase his more elegant, ‘fancy’ side, so I wasn't going for the funny expressions at all, but I decided that I may as well start sharing his silly photos too, and that sort of got us to where we are now.”
