Fans Outraged - The Netflix Thriller Everyone's Begging To Bring Back After A Shocking Cancellation
Netflix decided to pull the plug on this classic.

Imagine a Netflix show that captivated audiences with its mind-bending twists and turns, only to be axed after an astonishing first season. Yes, we're talking about 1899—the German psychological thriller that has fans in a frenzy, pleading for its return.
It was created by the genius duo Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, who also brought us the brilliant Dark. 1899 is a show that takes viewers on a chilling voyage across the Atlantic.
Set against the backdrop of the late 19th century, the series follows a diverse group of immigrants traveling from Southampton to New York, each with dreams of a fresh start. However, their journey is anything but smooth sailing as they encounter a series of eerie and supernatural events that leave them questioning reality itself.
Despite its intriguing plot and rave reviews, 1899 didn’t secure the viewership numbers Netflix hoped for, which led to its premature cancellation. This decision sparked a massive outcry from fans who fell in love with its unique storytelling and haunting atmosphere.
On IMDb, the show bagged a solid 7.3 rating, while Rotten Tomatoes gave it a respectable 77%. Critics and viewers alike praised its complex narrative and captivating visuals. Regardless, Netflix decided that it wasn’t worth the investment.

The cancellation left many questions unanswered and fans feeling shortchanged. In response, a change.org petition emerged, quickly amassing over 100,000 signatures.
The petition argues that 1899 was designed for multiple seasons, and the abrupt ending has left a gaping hole in its plot and the hearts of raving fans all around the globe. They demanded a proper conclusion to the cliffhangers and mysteries that the first season set up so brilliantly.
Co-creator Baran Bo Odar shared the disappointing news while expressing his deep regret: “With a heavy heart, we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. “We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a second and third season as we did with Dark. "But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned.”
His words resonated with the devoted audience, who are still hopeful for a second chance at uncovering the mysteries of 1899.
As of now, Netflix has no plans to resurrect 1899. But fans continue to hope that another platform might pick up where the journey left off. For now, the show remains a haunting reminder of what could have been—a perfect yet incomplete masterpiece that leaves us all craving more.
