Seeing a naked man shouting nonsense to high heaven while being naked on the streets and dragging his dog behind him is not a scene many people would like to see. It would also be pretty terrifying to encounter this kind of man since he might take out his frustrations on you.

A lot of people would just turn a blind eye or think that calling the police is enough. But how about the poor dog?

The dog is innocent despite all of its owner's actions. It might not even have really wanted to end up with such an owner except that it had little choice.

Some people wouldn't care about it but Redditor megtuuu wasn't one of those people. When this exact scenario happened to OP, they didn't let the dog get taken away by the police and back into the pound. They actually took the poor dog in, however, as with things like this, it didn't end there.

The naked man went back for his dog but seeing that the dog would be so poorly taken care of with him, OP refused. Now, she's doubting her decision and asking for guidance if she's doing the right thing.

But first, here's the whole story.

Most people would agree that you would have to be able to take care of yourself before getting a dog because they will depend on you for a lot of things. If you can't take care of yourself then how are you going to take care of their needs?

That's why we agree with what OP has done. It's clear that the naked man needs help and before then, it's better if the dog is far away from him.

It's clear that the naked man is in no condition to take care of a pet yet. He needs to take care of himself first.

Hopefully, he realizes that, and hopefully, shelters would also stop giving him more dogs to drag along with him. The poor pups won't be able to speak for themselves and will suffer unless another person like OP comes along.
