Japanese Take On Halloween Is "Every Day Mundane" Costumes And They're Epic

Halloween is an opportunity for peak creativity. People dress up their pets, their kids, and themselves all in good fun. Celebrities are well known for going all out on Halloween. (Seriously, get us going about Heidi Klum, the Unofficial Queen of Halloween.) The constant desire to be creative, unique, and have fun all at the same time on Halloween has made for one incredible year after the other, whether you're an ordinary person, a cat, or a celebrity.

With the bar being ever raised it shouldn't surprise you that a new trend has emerged... In 2014 the Japanese spear-headed a subculture called Jimi Halloween (地味ハロウィン) which roughly translates to “mundane Halloween.” It all began with a small group of adults from Daily Portal Z who, “kind of wanted to participate in the festivities of Halloween, but were too embarrassed to go all out in witch or zombie costumes.” Instead, they tell a simple, boring story with their Halloween costumes made out of normal, every day clothes. The results are epic.
