The modeling world can be a savage one. It's a harsh industry, to say the least, and many models have spoken publicly about being poorly treated and even body shamed.
For one Belgian model and influencer, these sentiments could not be more accurate. Known as Thewizardliz on TikTok, the 22-year-old model from Belgium recently posted a video that has since gone viral.
The video shows the model talking to a person who can't be seen on camera. It becomes clear that the person has instructed the model to lose weight, and Thewizardliz can be seen giving them a piece of her mind.
The TikToker later posted an update to give the original video some context. It turns out the model had been asked to do a photoshoot for a clothing company.
"Since I have a little platform in Belgium, they sent me a DM through Instagram asking to work with me," the influencer explained. "They loved my look and style and said I would be the perfect fit."
When the model arrived for the shoot, she was told by the photographer that there would be another shoot in two weeks, and she should not eat until then. The photoshoot hadn't even started yet when the photographer began body-shaming the model.
Naturally, the model was stunned by the photographer's comment, and she couldn't help but say something. That's when her friend started secretly filming the situation as it unfolded.
Thewizardliz revealed that she has previously suffered from an eating disorder, so this comment was especially hurtful and personal. "I do not ever want to model again," she said.
TikTok / thewizardlizIn"I never aspired to be a model exactly for this reason," the influencer explained. And she was incredibly surprised by the support she received after posting the video.
"I am beyond shocked by all the love and support I received for this video," the model said. "I really didn't want to post it cause I felt like I might have reacted too harshly, but I am not doing this for me."
"I'm doing it for my younger self, who developed an ED cause of people like this who constantly told me what and when I should or shouldn't eat," the influencer explained. "I am doing this for every girl/boy out there who has suffered or is still suffering from an ED, for everyone who has been put down and didn't feel comfortable speaking up."
