Dog Named Luka Is Still Searching For His Forever Home After No One Came To His Adoption Party On Valentine's Day

Being a part of a dog's rescue organization is a great call, but it comes with plenty of responsibilities and sometimes even a broken heart. People who take care of abandoned animals have enormous love for them, so they do anything in their power to help them find a new forever home.

While it is relatively easy for some dogs to find a new lovely home, occasionally, some of them have difficulties finding their new family. There is no rule or pattern which dog will be adopted, for it is just about luckiness and the effort good people with giant hearts put in to accomplish this selfless task.

Battersea Brands Hatch in Kent, England, is one of the organizations that take care of abandoned dogs and cats, whether they are newly-borns or they just lost their previous home for some reason. The organization is doing a great job, and from 1860 to today, they have helped more than three million animals be adopted and live in lovely homes.

Their vision is to achieve that every dog and cat find their new home where they will be treated with love, respect, and care. "We believe that every dog and cat deserves the best", says Battersea.

Six months ago, they welcomed the stray dog Luka to their shelter. Luka is a five-year-old giant dog, and though he looks strict at first sight, he is actually a shy, friendly dog who requires time to open up.

However, Luka did not get lucky to find his new home, so recently, people from the Battersea organization made him an adoption party. While the idea was pretty amazing, it did not go well as they hoped, either.

No one has shown up at his adoption party, so he is still at the shelter and waits for his future owner and best friend-to-be to arrive. But, there is no need to be worried such a lovely and friendly dog will surely find its new home eventually, and you can see the information about his adoptions and shelter below.

They have posted details of the adoption party-to-be on their social networks and website and have mentioned Luka's personality, too.

“Adorable Luke is looking for a home that will supply him with a bed near a radiator and a supply of soft toys! Luke arrived at Battersea as a stray so we have no history of his previous life. While Luke has made friends with all the staff he does have a sensitive side and can be worried about new people initially. New owners must let Luke settle into the home and introduce him to people slowly. You will know when Luke is comfortable as he loves nothing more than leaning in for a fuss and laying across your lap!” says workers of Battersea.

They wanted to make sure everyone could see how a great dog Luka is and give them an opportunity to offer him love and care as he deserves.

“He will need owners you are experienced in owning large, nervous breeds before. We have found onsite Luke is worried and intolerant of other dogs, he relies on his handler for guidance and support when meeting other dogs so his new owners must have experience in this and be able to read Luke’s body language to be able to tell when he is uncomfortable. Luke will need to be kept on a leash when out on walks so it’s very important he has his own private and secure garden where he can have some off-lead time.”

Luka doesn't like other dogs, so he needs to be the only pet in the house.

“Due to this Luke’s new home will need to be in a quiet location in an area which is not highly dog populated. Owners must be confident in handling Luke and continue his clicker training. Luke will need a home with multiple carers who will be able to build up his time spent alone gradually. We feel could live with older sensible teenagers but he would need to be the only pet in his new home”, says Battersea.

“Luke can also be sensitive when being handled around his ears."

"He has had some treatment while at Battersea, which will be discussed with potential adopters. But owners should be confident in continuing some positive association should he need this again in the future.”
