The Harry Potter series, produced by Warner Bros. and written by J. K. Rowling, consists of seven fantasy novels. The books follow the adventures of Harry Potter, a young wizard, and his companions Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, who are all students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The primary plot is around Harry's battle with Lord Voldemort, an evil wizard who wants to become immortal, topple the Ministry of Magic, and subjugate all wizards and Muggles who are the non-magical people. The books have gained tremendous popularity, positive reviews, and commercial success since publishing the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
They have a huge adult audience and younger readers and are frequently regarded as foundations of contemporary young adult writing. The books are part of the fantasy literature genre, and they are classified as "urban fantasy," "current fantasy," or "low fantasy."
They are primarily dramas with a sad and dark tone, while some significant instances of tragicomedy and black humor are sprinkled throughout. According to Rowling, death is a crucial topic in the series: "My books are essentially about death." and begin with Harry's parents' deaths.
