Animal rescuers in Burlington, North Carolina, recently completed a trap-neuter-release (TNR) program to help the local wild cats. One of their finds was a tuxedo kitten named Amelia.
The fearful stray was alone and hungry when they found her. However, she quickly found solace in the arms of Sparkle Cat Rescue.
A fearful kitten sought to hide beneath her cover to escape an upsetting circumstance, but fate had other ideas. The hesitant kitten was placed with Rowan, a volunteer foster, by Sparkle Cat Rescue, and as soon as she caressed Amelia, the shy kitten learned joy in her new surroundings.
“She’s a very thoughtful kitten who loves to cuddle and converse,” according to Rowan. “She loves to be right next to her person for hugs and makes an excellent nap time neck warmer.”
Amelia developed into a playful kitten soon after and was ready for her forever home. She was at an adoption event, but the activity and noise were too much for a tiny kitten who was shy.
Her safe haven was the back of her kennel, where she could hide with the help of her faithful blanket. Brittany, a Sparkle Cat Rescue volunteer, said, “All of the other kitties were vocal and playful and she just hid in the back.”
But destiny stepped in...
Meet Amelia. She is a shelter cat.
Sparkle Cat RescueStaff and animal-loving volunteers were concerned about Amelia, “We discussed getting a small box for her to get in, so she would feel more comfortable and safer.”
But fate intervened. A couple stopped in front of Amelia's kennel in the hopes of adopting a cat at the event.
They couldn't see the anxious kitty, but as they looked closer, they saw the adorable tuxedo kitten cowering behind the blanket with her ears flat. The bashful kitten sweetheart had reverted to her old ways.
Despite this, the pair felt driven to meet with her. Amelia calmed down immediately after being lured out of the cage.
She climbed up to her new mother's neck and snuggled in, content in the knowledge that she had found her family. She was the one, and the couple knew it.

Sparkle Cat RescueNow Amelia has a happy and loving forever home
Sparkle Cat RescueWhile witnessing a new family forming, Brittany remarked, “Amelia is so happy and so in love with her humans. She completely picked them.”
Amelia quickly made herself at home in her new surroundings. She's developed into a kitten whose only concern is which toy to play with next. Hugs and cuddles are abundant, and Amelia is content with her cozy existence.
Amelia and her future home were reunited thanks to the magic of animal rescue specialists and volunteers, who took her from a stray kitten to a spoiled lap cat.
