Hold onto your rings, Sonic fans! The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has just dropped, and it’s causing quite a stir across the internet. While there’s plenty to be excited about in this third installment of the high-speed film franchise, one detail, in particular, has fans buzzing louder than a Chaos Emerald.

Sure, we’ve got James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, and Idris Elba all reprising their roles, and yes, the ever-hilarious Jim Carrey is back as the eccentric Dr. Robotnik. But the real showstopper? None other than Keanu Reeves joined the cast as the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog.

That’s right—Keanu Reeves, the star of The Matrix and John Wick, is stepping into the shoes—or should we say, rollerblades?—of Sonic’s new arch-nemesis. 

Shadow was introduced to the Sonic universe in 2001’s Sonic Adventure 2. He’s a dark, brooding character who is just the perfect foil to Sonic’s bright and breezy nature. 

With his red and black fur, lightning-fast speed, and a personality that screams “I’ve seen some things,” Shadow is the kind of character who demands a voice that’s both cool and intimidating. And who better to deliver that than Keanu Reeves? 

The trailer not only introduces Shadow as the new big bad but also gives fans a taste of Reeves' deep, gravelly tones as he brings the character to life. To say that fans are excited would be an understatement.
