A Redditor wanted to know if it was a power play or if her husband was just inept at buttoning his shirt cuffs. They have been arguing if it was okay for him to demand that she drive home to help him button his shirts every morning.

OP explained that her husband did not have mobility issues. He has developed arm and shoulder muscles because he works out five to seven days a week.

He said his muscles made it difficult to button his shirts efficiently. He was required to wear collared dress shirts because he works in sales.

When they started arguing about the shirts, OP told her husband he was making excuses to inconvenience her. She pointed out that he did not have issues buttoning his cuffs when she was away.

Her husband confirmed that but said it took him too long to button his shirts, so he wanted OP to do it so he could hasten the process. OP's main contention was her husband was an adult who should be able to button his shirts all by himself.

She did not intend to replace his mother. More than that, her morning routine would be disrupted if she drove home after she dropped their son off at school to button her husband's shirts.

On her days off, she spends her mornings taking their son to school, going to the gym, and running errands.

OP said she shouldn't have to disrupt the few mornings she has to herself to help her husband with his buttons.

However, her husband's irritation when she says no made OP question if she was a selfish partner.

OP was heavily downvoted when she said it wasn't a power trip on her husband's part.

It would have been understandable if her husband got upset because OP refused to help him while they got ready TOGETHER in the morning.

It would have been cute if this was her husband's way of spending more time with OP in the morning before they leave for work.

It's ridiculous that he thought making his wife drive across town was not a big deal because he found buttoning his cuffs too difficult.

He thought it was too inconvenient to button his own shirt but not a big deal to make his wife drive all that way to do it for him.

This is an accurate representation of how ridiculous her husband is being.

Why can't he wake up earlier to have OP button his shirts while she's home instead of disrupting her routine?

Someone was selfish, alright, but it was not OP. Her husband should take a few deep breaths to realize how unreasonable he was with his request.

It was not out of stubbornness that OP refused to drive home from her son's school to help her husband button his cuffs quickly. Doesn't he find it ridiculous that they have a child, but it's him behaving immaturely?
