Homeless Couple From Viral Storage Unit Video Still Jobless, Asserting They're 'Too Smart' To Work

In an age where social media can transform ordinary lives into overnight sensations, the story of a homeless couple living in a storage unit captivated the digital world. Yet, months after their viral fame, their situation remains unchanged.

In a recent interview, they assert that their intelligence precludes them from securing employment, adding a layer of complexity to their already precarious circumstances. This article delves into the ongoing struggles of the couple, shedding light on the challenges they face and the broader societal issues their situation underscores.

Leland Desmond Brown Jr., the Philadelphia man who gained attention for sharing his unconventional living situation in a storage unit on TikTok, has provided an update to his followers: he and his girlfriend, Breanna, are now residing in a tent.

The couple was reportedly evicted from the storage unit after their video went viral, showcasing their efforts to save money by living in the facility. Brown, 28, had previously stated their intention to save up for an RV and eventually a tiny home. In a recent video titled "When You're Homeless & Not Getting a Job," Brown elaborated on why he believes they are "too smart" for traditional employment.

In a video recorded from a hotel room where they temporarily sought refuge, Brown expressed frustration with the conventional wisdom of 'get a job, and everything will be OK,' echoing what he imagined his parents would say.

Dismissing the idea with defiance, he declared, 'We gonna make a video on how we’re too smart for that. We too smart for that. Homeless and smart. We too smart for that s—t.' Breanna, seated beside him on the bed, nodded in agreement as Brown, who had set up a GoFundMe page following their viral fame, elaborated on their stance.

"Enough with the job talk, seriously. It's driving me crazy, all this J-O-B stuff," Brown passionately exclaimed, reflecting on the pressure from his family to conform to traditional employment. "But you know what? Screw all that," he continued defiantly.

"I'm not about to go down that road. I've tried jobs before, and let's face it, I got fired from like 90 percent of them. It's just not my thing. I'm an entrepreneur, self-made, and so is she."

On January 31, Brown shared a tearful video, revealing that the couple was temporarily staying with family and expressing remorse to those who donated to their GoFundMe, acknowledging their feelings of being scammed. However, by February 7, the couple disclosed that they had chosen to live in a tent, opting out of staying with family and embracing their decision to remain homeless.

"We'd rather live outside so we can do what we wanna do," asserted Brown, reflecting on their preference for an outdoor lifestyle. Criticizing capitalism, he expressed that a minimalist approach suited them well, especially since Breanna's income from OnlyFans and their combined presence on TikTok provided enough for survival.

Breanna chimed in, condemning consumerism and highlighting how people often buy things they don't need or truly want, particularly during events like Christmas and birthdays.

In another video titled "When You’re Homeless In a Tent," shared last week, Brown showcased the interior of their tent. The footage revealed a modest setup featuring a small shelf adorned with battery-operated lights. Yoga mats, sleeping bags, plastic organizers filled with provisions, water, and collapsible chairs completed their essentials within the tent.

Several days later, Brown posted another TikTok video showcasing their snow-covered tent. Captioned "When You’re Homeless & It Snow," the footage depicted the couple diligently clearing snow from their makeshift dwelling. In a subsequent video, Brown was seen cleaning up after the tent had been flooded by rain, with him rapping, "It’s below freezing & I’m out in the cold."

Despite the inclement weather, it appears that the couple remains steadfast in their decision to continue living outside in their tent.
