"Plastic tastes awful" - the hawk, probably
Animals are so funny sometimes. They have entirely different perceptions of the world around them, and react in the ways that are sometimes so amusing. Especially when something confuses them.
Take this hawk for instance. He was looking forward to a nice lunch, but he discovered that the duck he wanted to hunt down was in fact, a lawn ornament.
A YouTube user Garybob shared a footage of a hawk who believed he’d just hit the jackpot with this nice, chubby duck, but ended up disappointed by the plastic taste of his pray. We can’t even begin to imagine his surprise and disappointment.
Hawks are apex predators, and they often target ducks. This hawk starts expressing clear signs of skepticism and confusion. He swiftly paces towards the duck and attacks but sees that the figurine isn’t moving. The predator starts walking, trying to claw it several times, all the while looking around to spot other predators. The “attack” lasted two minutes. The hawk tried everything - pacing, threatening, clawing, and attacking, but nothing worked. The plastic duck just wouldn’t budge.
Finally, when the hawk’s patience ran out, it decided to fly away. The taste of plastic simply wasn’t to its liking. The video became very popular, and it got more than 1.8 million views and 29,000 likes on YouTube.
Encounters like these are not uncommon. Steve Grimme posted a video of a hawk being confused by a plastic rabbit on Facebook. The reaction was very similar: a lot of exploring and encircling, the sporadic attack, and the adorable, confused look every time the rabbit doesn’t react.
