Life is so unpredictable and random that everything can change in a second. One second you're just casually strolling by the sidewalk carrying your groceries and next you're trying to dodge a speeding car determined to crush you.
Those heart-pounding scenarios don't just happen in movies, they happen in real life, too. Those terrifying encounters are nearly impossible to survive if you don't react quickly.
We may be evolved species but in those moments we rely mostly on our survival instinct and hope to whatever deity we believe in that we will survive. If you have any experience like this, was there a moment before it happened where you sort of felt like something was about to go wrong?
A small clue that signals your brain it's time that you remove yourself from the equation or else you will be in trouble. In those moments, it's best to listen to your gut feeling because it will probably save your life.
A recent Reddit forum was focused on such events. One user asked the others, "What is your 'Oh shit, I’ve got to get the hell outta here right now!' story?"
That simple question received almost 20k responses and 43k upvotes. Someone out there is so desperate to populate their immortal dwelling with humans but these Redditors "noped" out of the situation so fast and wasted no opportunity to save themselves.
This is the interesting question that started it all:

That's a buried animal instinct telling you to hightail it out of wherever you are. Try to be observant of your surroundings and if your gut tells you something is off about the situation or the person you're with, better listen to it.
