MS-13, "formally" regarded as Mara Salvatrucha, is regarded as the most notorious gang in the world. It was formed in the 1980's in Los Angeles and the motto by which they conduct their business is literally "Kill. Rape. Control". The gang is primarily composed of immigrants from Salvador who came to the United States during their civil war. 

They are known for the terrible and violent acts in which they have engaged in across Northern and Central America alike. Compared to other gangs, they are slightly more terrifying because rather than using guns to conduct their "business", they favor machetes and other weapons that make the kill more personal and much more painful.
