Alan, a 49-year-old man, was distraught after not being able to find his loving companion.
Alan and his dog Mitzi were like peanut butter and jelly. They were inseparable after Alan's first dog passed away, and they were best friends ever since.
Mitzi, unfortunately, went missing one day on her morning walk with Alan. Alan tried his best to find her, but eventually, he had to call it quits and go back home.
Alan was scared that Mitzi wouldn't survive the winter night. “I broke down crying to anyone I spoke to about Mitzi,” the heartbroken man said. “I was missing her so much.”

Alan came the next day with a group of friends to help find his Jack Russel dog. They searched for 10 hours with no avail, so this is when he decided to put up the missing dog flyers.
Alan Whitton/FacebookIt was soon after this that a neighbor called to tell Alan that they saw their dogs sniffing around a fox hole.
Alan decided to go check it out to see if maybe it was his Mitzi stuck in the fox hole. Alan brought one of Mitzi's favorite toys and began squeaking it by the hole.
Eventually, Mitzi whimpered, and Alan began digging for her. He pulled her out by her collar, and at last, the two were reunited again.
Alan Whitton/FacebookHere you can see the two cuddling and soaking in that moment.
“I just broke down, I was overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, I had started to lose hope,” Alan said. “It was like a Christmas miracle, all the time it felt like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.”
Alan Whitton/FacebookHere is where you can see the beautiful moment between Alan and Mitzi.
