When the day's problems fade away in the evening, you may find yourself in need of that unique kind of consolation. You could even be said to be in the mood for love.

You don't need much to satisfy such a desire – your most comfortable pajamas, a cloud of blankets, a glass of rose, and your favorite romantic comedy should enough! But what kind of romantic comedy?

Teen romantic comedies from the 90s - no matter if we want to admit it in public, we've all watched them. We all have that special guilty pleasure movie (needless to say, it's a rom-com).

These movies are a prime illustration of Hollywood's inaccuracy when it comes to portraying teen life. In fact, during the 1990s, the genre was proven to be the world of fantasy (which, of course, does not rule out the possibility of fantasy being enjoyable).

However, it did raise some issues about portraying a false image that confused teenagers should mimic. It has caused some confusion, that's for sure.

This is not only what we tell our therapists all the time, but it's also why some old rom-coms have become classics in their own right. We're talking about films like Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, and, well, that's about it; no one remembers Whatever It Takes.
