Chris Thompson is an incredibly accomplished artist whose work has crossed nearly countless platforms for over two decades as he has dedicated his life and passion to art. As the Entertainment Director at Calaway Park he has written and produced over 60 stage shows.
At the Youth Singers of Calgary, Chris is a jack of all trades on staff coaching students as the Assistant Producer, Marketing Team Lead, and Senior Guest Choreographer! He's also an accomplished and skilled vocal performer.
One of Chris's special skills, however, are his quality illustrations. Whether he is creating original pieces of re-imagining fan art from the entire pop culture universe, his work is extremely popular. On Instagram he shared this amazing series of Disney character portraits that just pair so perfectly and we're sure as huge Disney fans, you're going to love these!

On why he chose Mulan's reflection instead of Shang, Chris said:
"My latest series is mostly Disney couple portraits, two separate images facing each other... I love the romance. But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have Mulan and her reflection. A powerful statement."

Chris is a big fan of the endearing film:
"WALL-E is hands down my favorite of the Disney Pixar films. So adorable yet such a poignant commentary on where the world is headed. I’ve watched it probably a dozen times."

13. Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty
On Prince Phillip, Chris said, "Prince Phillip is such an OG prince, and arguably one of the prince’s to put in the most effort!"
And regarding the classic princess herself, Aurora, he said: "Sleeping Beauty is classic Disney animation at its best, such gorgeous design that really defined so much of Disney’s aesthetic."

Chris explained his feelings when he shared his portraits of Pocahontas and John Smith:
"I loved the movie POCAHONTAS... the music, the animation, how powerful her character felt to me.... but now as an adult and in 2020, it does seem like a mistake to take a historical figure and appropriate the story. Different times for sure. Still a movie that makes me cry!"
