We all have dreams and wishes. They might involve life-changing goals or even small stuff like getting an item that you’ve been eyeing for a while.
Then there are wishes that are made because it might be the last thing you want to see or experience before you can’t anymore. Wishes are usually made by those who sadly have little time left in this world.
If you love the person that made the wish dearly, wouldn’t you try your best to fulfill it? This woman did for her mother.
An old woman last wish wanted to see a deer for the last time. It was a heartwarming wish that they didn’t think was possible to do but her daughter pulled all the strings she could to make it happen.
The old woman was very sick and they didn’t know how long she has. Her daughter, Lisa, had disclosed that deers are creatures that are very dear to her but it was hard trying to find one in the first place and ultimately bring it to her.
Eventually, it was the daughter’s effort and intentions that convinced the deer owners she found to help her. They drove out for a long time out of kindness to help Lisa make her mother happy.
Bambi was the movie that Lisa’s mother had been enthralled with. It’s a Disney movie involving a fawn not having the greatest start in life when he and his mother ran away from a hunter. He then continues to navigate through life with friends he meets along the way.
The Kindess PandemicThe movie has had a major impact on the life of Lisa McDonald’s mother. She had memorabilia and merchandise like clothing that had Bambi on them. That’s how much she loved it.
When she got sick, Lisa and her sister tried their best to take care of her but their mother’s health was slowly deteriorating. One day, their mother disclosed that one of her last wishes was to see a deer again.
This is what she narrated in her post in the Facebook group, The Kindness Pandemic. She even shared that their nursing uniforms, as they fondly called them, are Bambi shirts worn by other supportive people too.
The Kindess PandemicLisa had tried to look for a way to bring a deer to the hospital where her mother was at. Bringing a deer anywhere was already hard so it was going to involve more effort.
Luckily, she stumbled upon a mobile farm in Melbourne that was owned by Simone and Chris. Lisa found out that they owned a deer and the best part is, the deer was coincidentally named ‘Bambi’.
Once they heard how much Lisa’s mother was deteriorating, they drove out for two and a half hours to make it to the hospital.
It was all worth it when they saw the genuine surprise and happiness of Lisa’s mother when they walked in with the deer. It was heartwarming how she pet the animal gently and cherished the fulfillment of her wish.
The Kindess PandemicLisa has thanked everyone who showed support, especially the couple who became a big part of her surprise for her mother. In the end, when her mother passed, they got them a Bambi-designed casket that commemorated what she loved.

Lisa’s mother may not have spent more time with them the way they liked but her wish to be fulfilled might have been one of her greatest gifts. Even though it was a bit hard to achieve or a bit different.
Wishes are also a way of showing hope. And in life, hope is important to have especially when things get tough.
