I think it's safe to say we've all heard the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, right? It's the story of a little girl who wanders into the house of three bears, eats their food, sleeps in their beds, and sits in their chairs.
Well, in this story, the tables were turned when a bear invited himself into a police station in California. Caught on surveillance cameras, the bear is seen leisurely strolling into the station, taking a look around, and then leaving again.
The day started out just like any other for the California Highway Patrol department officers near Lake Tahoe. But things quickly took a turn when their unusual visitor walked in.
"We always encourage visitors to stop by and say hi," joked the California Highway Patrol. "Our officers don't scare easily."
Of course, the officers are used to having all kinds of people come into the station. But this particular guest left them all somewhat astounded.
The unbelievable footage shows the large bear walking up to the door on his hind legs and calmly opening the door with no assistance necessary. This bear knew what he was doing!
The bear can be seen in the door's reflection, taking a look at the vending machines in the station foyer. But he mustn't have been hungry because he quickly turned around and continued inspecting the station.
The bear stood on his hind legs and opened the door like a pro!
Just as quickly as he came in, the large bear can be seen heading back out the door. By this stage, he had two officers chasing behind him!
The mischievous bear made his way into the station parking lot before finding his way back into the woods. Thankfully, neither the bear nor any of the officers were harmed during the incident.

The officers saw the funny side to the situation and have been enjoying telling the story of their cheeky visitor. But, in reality, the bear situation in California is quite a concern for locals.
According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the bear population in California has increased dramatically over the past two years and is now up at around 40,000. The public is urged to keep alert and act with caution if they see a bear.

Bears have become comfortable around the human population, which unfortunately isn't great news. "In these cases, bears are no longer cautious and fearful around people," the officials said.
Sadly, this means the bears have become a prevalent threat to people. "This may result in property damage and even threaten human safety."
I don't know about you, but I reckon it would be pretty darn cool to get a visit from a bear. Especially one as friendly as this one!
Believe it or not, there are many more stories about animals visiting places they perhaps shouldn't. For instance, the deer that dropped into a gift shop in Colorado and then came back later with the rest of her family.
It seems that sometimes our furry friends are just too curious for their own good. But we sure do love them, don't we?
