"There are enough poor buildings out there; we don’t need to keep 'inventing' more of them just to try and be 'original'"

People make errors, and some of these errors take place at work. In most cases, the mistake is made, and everything is quickly forgotten.
However, if an architect made a mistake, the "hiccup" may be far more obvious. The goal of the Facebook group "That's It, I'm Architecture Shaming - Burn It to the Ground Edition" is to expose every structure that its members feel shouldn't have been built.
Of course, if there aren't obvious drawbacks (like structural damage), a lot of it comes down to personal preference, generating spirited debates, but it makes reading the information much more engaging. Architecture today has an originality syndrome, according to associate professor Melonie Bayl-Smith from UNSW Built Environment.
She added that trying to be completely original shouldn't always be an architect's top priority, saying that such attempts don't always result in better buildings.
"I think we as a profession need to do a better job of recognizing what does work well, and developing and enriching those approaches, whether it’s spatial design, material design, the processes of building assembly, sustainable practices — all the different things that contribute to making a great, long-lasting building.

There are already too many poor structures built; we don't need to keep "inventing" more of them to appear "original." Architects have the ability to improve our quality of life significantly.
The new structures and public areas should safeguard and accommodate society rather than confuse it, or don't you think so? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
