Woman Threatens To Ground Flight And Sue Airline After Passanger Refused Swapping Seats To Allow Her Sit With Son
Lots of people buy airline tickets without considering which seats they are going to have during the plane ride.
However, this changes when it’s time for the ride, and they aren’t sitting with the person or people they are going on a trip with. Then they start looking for solutions to enable them to sit with their travel partners.
While some people are lucky enough to get into an airline that isn’t fully booked, others have to ask to swap seats with other people on the flight.
It’s then left to the person they ask for a switch to accept or reject their request.
Unfortunately, some people regard this as a request that must be accepted without fail.
We found a story on the r/entitledparents subreddit that paints a similar picture.
OP shared that he was on a flight when a boy walked up to him to ask for a seat swap. When he looked over at the seat he would be swapping his with, he discovered that it was a standard seat that didn’t have the extra legroom he’d paid extra for so he declined. Although dejected, the boy left.
Soon OP was faced with a shouting mother demanding OP swap seats as her son was afraid of flying, and she had to sit with him.
OP still refused, and the woman then tried to get a member of the flight crew involved. Unfortunately, the person was on OP’s side and refused to force him to swap seats.

According to this Redditor, 15€ isn't a lot

"By the way there were probably 4 people sitting near them that they could have asked to move to the front"

"Why didn't she just ask someone else to switch."

"The easiest way to sweeten a deal is to give the person the same standard as they already have or something better."

"She could have asked the person sitting in the crappy seat next to her if they would like to swap to a better seat."

"As a flight attendant that's when I tell the person sitting next to the mom in standard to move up to the extra leg room seat"

"If she didn't have money she shouldn't have been flying anywhere"

"Why do people think you're okay with downgrading on what could be a several hundred dollar trip?"

"This is far to relatable for me. I haven’t had this happen though, but would get extremely pissed."

"Wow, It always amazes me how entitled some people are. I fly with my kids and I always choose our seats so we sit together."

"I never understand people wanting to switch seats, especially if/when you have airlines that offer you the option ahead of time??"

The commenters believe OP is right for not swapping seats, after all, he had paid for his seat and had a right to it.
They also agree that if the mother had wanted to sit with her son so badly, she should have paid extra to choose seats.
What's your take on this story? Would you have swapped or would you have stood your ground like OP?
