These Kitties Have An Adorable Way Of Going Down The Stairs

Cats are incredibly flexible, it’s like they are made from rubber. Or better yet- liquid.

When we watch them contort into tight spaces and peculiar positions ( and every cat owner will testify that they often turn to liquid), we kind of experience mixed feelings. We admire them because they are so nimble and athletic, but on the other hand, we enjoy the goofiness because flowing cats are goofy above anything else.

Luckily, “cats are liquid” has become a phenomenon on social networks, and people share all kinds of videos of their pets doing the most amazing things with their bodies. Ricky, an adorably plushy orange-and-white tabby, is one of those cats.

In the TikTok clip below, we see him sharing a moment with Rachel, his mom, on the stairs when he headbutts the bottom of the railing, flops on his side, and begins melting down the stairs. If you could rate his cuteness from 1-10, he’d be a 20.

He would be an Olympic gold medalist if there were a discipline called “melting cats.”He is obviously having great fun because it is better than the traditional way of going down the stairs. And his mom doesn’t seem to mind – he is polishing these stairs very nicely.

Ricky’s innovative way of going down the stairs has captivated the TikTok crowd.

People just couldn’t resist him, and the clip has more than 1.4 million likes and 84K shares. Let’s be honest — it is well deserved.

He also got many comments, more than 18K. Some of the best were:

One person couldn’t help quipping:

Ricky is not the only cat that has mastered the art of flowing down the stairs. Meet Posey, whose Instagram account rolyposey has garnered more than 15K followers!

The vets say that when cats are flopping down the stairs or rolling on the floor, they communicate with us. It’s a cat’s way of showing we have gained their trust and they’re feeling comfortable.

And that’s about the greatest compliment you can get from a cat. She’s feeling friendly right now and maybe just having a bit of fun.

And if she’s sliding downstairs — well, who doesn’t remember going down the slide as a kid? That’s always fun, after all.

Ricky is undoubtedly one charming cat, and he is very fortunate to have a loving mom. Cats are very much like people in some regards – once we stop worrying about basic survival, we can devote time to having fun.

That’s a reason why most advances in arts and amusement were in periods of peace when security was high and food was plenty.
