21 Celebrities Who Hate Each Other
Some kissed and made up, many have not.

I think one of the biggest downsides of being a celebrity is having eyes on you all the time. All your private moments are coveted and ready to be shared for the right price, and in Hollywood, there are a lot of deep pockets specifically for that.
But, that’s just me. Those in the spotlight obviously thrive in it and continue to do whatever they can to keep themselves relevant for as long as possible.
Between people wanting to make money on celebrity drama, and celebrities who live to be in the headlines, there is no shortage of overly dramatic feuds. And we freaking love these stories.
It rarely matters who’s involved, celebrity drama is always juicy, and the pettier they are, the better. While some conflicts have been resolved or forgotten, there are some that have been held in an iron vice-grip for decades.
We collected 21 stories of feuds between some of your favorite celebrities. There’s a good mix of forgiveness and reconciliation, but there are more that don’t seem to have any hope of civility.
From Martha Stewart beefing with Gywneth Paltrow, to Susan Sarandon fighting over Twitter with Debra Messing, and Pusha T and Drakes diss-tracks, we have something for everyone. Keep scrolling to read more.
1. Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds
Archive Photos/Getty Images/Hulton Archive/Getty ImagesElizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds had a decade-long fight over a man
The whole thing started when Debbie's husband, Eddie, left her for her closest friend, Elizabeth. Understandably, there was A LOT of animosity between them.
They ended up reconciling in 1966 while on the same cruise. The two starred together in the 2001 film These Old Broads, written by Carrie Fisher, Debbie's daughter (and Elizabeth's former step-daughter).
giphy2. Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon
GettyDebra Messing and Susan Sarandon have been fighting on Twitter for years, and it doesn't appear to be ending any time soon
The two have been fighting over Twitter for years, and it looks like it's mostly politically motivated. In an interview, Sarandon said of Messing:
"She's not very well informed. And so sometimes she gets in areas that she hasn't really thought through. Maybe she's Trumpian a little bit like that."
They've shared lots of petty jabs over the years, like when Messing called Sarandon a "self-righteous narcissist." And after an episode of The Kardashians, where Kim said “a girl from Will & Grace" said she shouldn't host SNL, Sarandon shared that clip on Twitter with a laughing emoji.
giphy3. Drake Bell and Josh Peck
Kevin Mazur / WireImageDrake Bell and Josh Peck weren't close for 10 years, but they both regret having such a public falling out
It feels like it would be a safe assumption that these former costars were besties. Apparently a lot of people did until Bell called out Peck for not inviting him to his wedding.
“When you’re not invited to the wedding the message is clear... True colors have come out today. Message is loud and clear. Ties are officially cut. I’ll miss you brotha,” Bell Tweeted, then inevitably deleted.
The two were spotted being friendly at the VMAs, appearing to have made up. Peck later explained on BuzzFeed's BFF podcast that they didn't continue their friendship post Drake & Josh.
"Drake and I didn’t stay in touch for the 10 years since we had made the show, but no one needed to know that,” he said. Peck and his wife received a lot of hate online after Bell's since-deleted tweet, but he apologized to them both at the VMAs.
giphy4. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
LARRY BUSACCA/GETTY IMAGESThese two pop stars had a nearly decade-long feud, chock full of diss-tracks and all
This feud was thought to have started back when Swift called Perry out for trying to "sabotage" her Red tour.
"She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour," Taylor explained to Rolling Stone. "She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me... So now, I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."
Following the interview, Perry tweeted: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
Swift's 2014 song "Bad Blood" was allegedly about the feud, and Perry's 2017 track "Swish Swish" was thought to be a response.
Leading up to Swift's 2018 Redemption tour, Perry sent her a LITERAL olive branch along with an apology as a peace offering. The following year, Perry appeared in Swift's music video for "You Need To Calm Down", and they have been friends ever since.
tenor5. Chrissy Teigen and Alison Roman
Nikole Herriott and Michael Graydon; Clarkson PotterThis started out with NYT food columnist, Roman, insinuating Teigen sold out by making money off merchandise
NYT food columnist Alison Roman insinuated that because Chrissy Teigen was making money off her merch she had sold out. “She had a successful cookbook, and then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it’s just, like, people running a content farm for her.” Roman said of Teigen
Fans online were upset over her comments, as well as Teigen, who said: "This is a huge bummer and hit me hard." Roman backpedaled and later released a lengthy apology on Twitter.
giphy6. Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi
Moviestore/ShutterstockApparently the two hated each other so much they couldn't be in the same room to film even one scene together
The Good Wife actors, Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi, apparently had such a fiery hatred for each other that they went three seasons without sharing a single scene. In season 6 their characters finally had a scene together, but it was edited in post-production to make it look like they were in the same room.
Turns out they filmed their respective parts separately, using stand-ins. If you pay attention to the scene, it's kinda obvious, there's this invisible line between them that they never cross, and they never share eye contact.
CBS7. Gwyneth Paltrow and Martha Stewart
Kevin Mazur/WireImageStewart has no patience for Paltrow trying to take over as a leader in the lifestyle space.
"She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter. Fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle," Stewart said in 2013.
Stewart mocked Paltrow's "conscious uncoupling" from Chris Martin by printing a spread called “Conscious Coupling” in an issue of Martha Stewart Living. In response, Paltrow shared a recipe for "Jailbird Cake" on her website, an obvious reference to Stewart's time incarcerated.
In reference to the infamous Goop vagina candle, Stewart said: "She does that kind of irritatingly — she's trying to zhuzh up the public to listen to her."
giphy8. Taylor Swift, Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta
Getty / Rick Diamond / Axelle / Bauer-GriffinSwift got caught up in a terrible situation thanks to her manager selling her masters to a producer who made her career hell
This is a longer story than most on this list, and you might know some of it already. The TL;DR version is: Swift's manager, Borchetta sold her masters to producer Braun, who was a person that Swift felt targeted with "incessant, manipulative bullying" throughout her career.
Swift wrote on social media: "When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually, he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words 'Scooter Braun' escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to.'"
Since then, she's been re-recording all her old albums, but the lyrics on the songs Folklore and Evermore make it clear how heartbroken she was. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she shared that when she was writing the albums she would be “very triggered by any stories, movies, or narratives revolving around divorce”.
Swift said about Borchetta: "All of a sudden this person that you trusted more than anyone in the world is the person that can hurt you the worst," And Braun, as recently as April 2022, is still complaining about Taylor "weaponizing her fanbase".
giphy9. Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes
Cindy Ord, Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesHeigl and Rhimes had a very public falling out while working on "Grey's Anatomy"
Heigl was part of the original cast for the first six seasons of Grey's Anatomy, and from her time on the series, rumors began to circulate about her being difficult to work with. She didn't help disprove those rumors when she withdrew her consideration for an Emmy because she "did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant [a nomination]."
Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter after creating the show Scandal that she had a "no assholes policy," and that "there are no Heigls in this situation." Yikes.
There may have been an opportunity to turn things around in 2019, as Heigl was supposed to come in to film a scene for Grey's Anatomy. Apparently, she never showed up to set.
It doesn't seem that these two are actively feuding anymore, but it's probably safe to say Heigl wont be cast in future Shondaland series.
tenor10. Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker
Kevin Mazur / WireImageKim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker don't want anything to do with each other
This feud has been rumored to have started since Sex and the City first aired. There were denied rumors that Cattrall had an issue with how much more SJP was paid in comparison to her.
Apparently, a LOT of other things went down, and Cattrall doesn't want to put it behind her. Which likely is why she wasn't invited back for the Sex and the City reboot.
In 2020, Cattrall said she has “no regrets” about how things ended up. SJP doesn't want Cattrall back on the show anyway: “I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared," she told Variety.
gifer11. Pusha T and Drake
Stephane Cardinale - Corbis / Corbis via Getty Images, David Becker / Getty Images,Pusha T and Drake had been going at it since 2006
But things got really heated in 2018 when Pusha T released a diss track called "The Story of Adidon" that alleged Drake had a secret son, which as we all know now was true.
IN 2021 Pusha T told Complex that he was past the feud, saying "bygones are bygones," following up a year later saying he had nothing to gain from making amends.
"I don’t really stand anything to gain from squashing anything," he said. “I’m not entertaining it. There’s nothing I want from the situation. I don’t want to do a record. I don’t want to do none of that.”
giphy12. Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad
Andreas Branch/Patrick McMullan via Getty ImagesHeidi Montag and Lauren Conrad's friendship fell apart thanks to Heidi's then-boyfriend
The two were besties up until 2007 when Spencer Pratt, Montag's then-boyfriend, started a nasty rumor that Conrad had made a sex tape with her ex, Jason. Their relationship was destroyed and once The Hills wrapped, they did not have any contact with each other.
Montag was a guest on an episode of the podcast, Call Her Daddy, where she said she'll "always love Lauren" and that "it didn't have to go that way." But she also added her side of the story when things went down in 2007.
According to her side of the story, Conrad had threatened Montag with getting kicked off the show to try to force her to dump Pratt. Montag was not about the ultimatum, explaining on the podcast: "Yeah, I appreciate you getting me on this show, but that doesn't mean you own me and you can tell me what to do in my life."
giphy13. George Clooney and Russell Crowe
Laurent Koffel / Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images, Mark Metcalfe / Getty Images for AFIGeorge Clooney and Russell Crowe have been fighting in the media since 1999
Clooney and Crowe have been at it for over two decades. And apparently, it's because Crowe was cast for the Gladiator role over Clooney.
In 2013, Clooney told Esquire that Crowe "picked a fight" with him: "He started it for no reason at all. He put out this thing saying, 'George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Robert De Niro are sellouts.' "
Clooney further explained that Crowe tried to make amends, but did it in the most bizarre way that didn't do the job at all. "He sends me a disc of his music and a thing of his poetry," Clooney said. "I think he said, 'I was all misquoted,' and I was like, 'Yeah, yeah. Whatever.'"
As of 2020, it is said the two are still at odds with each other.
giphy14. Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty
Getty ImagesAlyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty's feud got so bad that it was why Shannen left "Charmed" after season 3
However, the two both grew over time and were able to put their animosity behind them. Milano told E! News that she regrets their fighting and that they talk often via Twitter DM.
"I think we're just at ages now that what happens 15 years ago, or however long ago that was, it's irrelevant. I think that what she has gone through, [and] motherhood in my life, I think it just changes people."
tenor15. Megan Fox and Michael Bay
Don Arnold / FilmMagicMegan Fox and Michael Bay had a LOT of tension while working together on the "Transformer" films
In an interview with Wonderland, Fox described Bay as: "He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for... He’s vulnerable and fragile in real life and then on set he’s a tyrant."
Bay called her quotes "outlandish," while 3 anonymous crew members submitted a letter about Fox, calling her "as about ungracious a person as you can ever fathom."
In spite of it all, Fox and Bay made up. In 2018 Fox said to Andy Cohen that they were "BFFs."
gifer16. Chelsea Handler and Angelina Jolie
Neilson Barnard/Getty Images; Emma McIntyre/Getty ImagesHandler actively HATED Jolie for nearly a decade
There hasn't been a clear reason for Handler's rabid animosity, but she would regularly attack Jolie for being a "homewrecker." In 2013, she said Jolie "seems like a demon," and 3 years later called her a "fucking lunatic."
Handler used to be close friends with Jennifer Aniston, so it wouldn't be a reach to think that's why Handler felt so passionately about Jolie, but she claims that wasn't the reason. “As a woman, I know when you see somebody walking across the room that’s a bad girl," she said in 2013. "I just don’t like Angelina Jolie. I don’t think she’s a girl’s girl. I like girl’s girls!”
However, in a 2019 interview with Andy Cohen, Handler expressed regret for her comments. “You know what, I’m upset that I was so upset with Angelina Jolie,” she said. “I realize, she’s just trying to do her best, too.”
giphy17. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
J. Vespa/WireImage.comHilton and Richie started out as BFFs, then became enemies
Hilton and Richie were a famous best-friend couple, up until 2004 when things started to get shaky. in 2005 Hilton told People that they were no longer friends, not sharing any additional explanation other than: "Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it."
Allegedly, Hilton was invited to Richie's 2010 wedding but did not attend. Sometime between then and 2014, the two seemed to make up, as Richie shared in an interview that she felt Hilton was "a true friend."
Things still seemed good by 2019, as Hilton told Andy Cohen: "I love Nicole. We were actually texting three days ago because it's our high school reunion, so she was reminding me of the date." And Richie attended Hilton's 2021 wedding.
gifer18. Brandy and Monica
VerzuzThe two R&B singers were pitted against each other for decades
After their iconic duet "The Boy is Mine", the two young women found themselves in a manufactured rivalry that ended up becoming a real thing. As they were a similar age and were performing for the same audience, they were both competing for that attention.
In 2020, Brandy and Monica reunited for a Verzuz battle and appear to have moved on and are at least friendly toward each other.
giphy19. Will Smith and Janet Hubert-Whitten
giferThe costars actively hated each other for nearly 30 years
While Hubert-Whitten and Smith played family members in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, there was definitely no love between them. Apparently, the on-set tension was what led to Hubert-Whitten being replaced on the show by Daphne Maxwell Reid.
But that didn't fix their animosity towards each other. Smith said on a radio interview in '93: "I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air Show. No matter what, to her, I'm just the Antichrist."
In 2011, Huber-Whitten called Smith an "a-hole" in an interview with TMZ. But fast-forward to the present and we all know how things have come around.
The Fresh Prince reunion special finally happened and the two were able to get together and talk things out. They both acknowledged their mistakes and faults made and had a positive reconciliation.
HBO Max20. Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan
J. VESPA/ GETTY IMAGESHilton and Lohan a lot of mean things to say about each other
Definitely one of the most iconic feuds of the 2000s. The duo had a tumultuous relationship for years, although they started out as friends, things went downhill quickly.
In 2006 Lohan claimed that Hilton had thrown a drink at her, while Hilton made claims that Lohan called her a c*nt. Their fighting continued on as recently as 2019 when Hilton called Lohan "lame" and "embarrassing".
However, it looks like they've figured things out recently. Hilton told Andy Cohen in January 2022 that they're friends again. “I just feel like we’re grown-ups now. I just got married. She just got engaged. We’re not in high school. I think it was just very immature and now everything is all good.”
“I saw that she got engaged when I was on my honeymoon, and I just said congratulations,” Hilton explained of their reconciliation.
giphy21. Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump
BRUCE GLIKAS/WIREIMAGE; MARK WILSON/GETTYWe would be more surprised if these two ever got along
Sure, many people have issues with Trump, but apparently, Rosie O'Donnell's feud with the former reality star goes back over a decade.
In 2006, while O'Donnell was a host on The View, she called him a morally hypocritical "snake-oil salesman". In his usual fashion, Trump told People that he would sue her for what she said.
"I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements — and it’ll be fun. Rosie’s a loser, a real loser," he said at the time. "I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice, fat little Rosie."
Trump would frequently bring her up in interviews and on Twitter for over a freaking decade and a half. Talk about a vendetta.
"I think he can’t let go of a strong woman standing up to him. He won’t let it die," O'Donnell told The Daily Beast\. Later she said to TMZ that she “prays to God” that he ends up going to prison.
