When we are talking about what was going on back in the day and what life was like back in the 80s a lot of us think about things like music and fashion, but many people forget simple things like advertising. Yes, there was marketing and advertising back in the 80s as well and they did their best with it.
We thought it would be fun to look back at some vintage popular 2980s magazine covers that are promoting some sort of technology, like computers. Computers were definitely becoming popular in the 80s and it was starting to be advertised literally everywhere, including in magazines.
Looking back at these advertisements show us just how far our technology, photography, and marketing skill shave come over the years. Though there is nothing wrong with any of these advertisements, our main goal is just to appreciate them for what it is.
Magazine covers were one of the main things used to advertise products and services, so it's no surprise that when computers got popular that they were all over the cover of every magazine. So, let's look at this list of awesome vintage magazine covers that are promoting computers from the 1980s.
1. It looks like this one was some sort of technology based magazine by the name of it.
2. It's wild to see this whole set up when we can just bring our phone or laptop by itself nowadays and travel with the internet.
3. I'm not even sure what kind of device she's even holding, but it does look interesting though and kind of like a tablet.
4. Okay but can we point out that every advertisement is accompanied by a beautiful girl on the cover.
5. There are so many things to take away from this cover such as the fact that this is yet another girl on the cover and you can clearly see that IBM was around at that point too.
6. This is my favorite magazine cover so far because it has the most personality within it.
7. She looks so happy to be using her computer, little did they know that these full set ups wouldn't be needed for long.
8. This magazine cover advertisement is actually cute and kind of makes sense for real life.
9. I know I'm not looking at her stick an envelope in there. What is she doing?
10. I need to know if they are promoting computers or trying to not promote computers.
11. Well this is an interesting office space for her to be in.
12. Okay the fashion choices with the tights are my favorite part of this magazine cover.
13. I love that none of the computers that they are advertising are even on and working.
14. We love the romance they tried to add to the advertisement by giving the girls flowers to hold.
15. Umm, this one doesn't really look like a computer ad, but maybe a pretty girl ad?
16. They were promoting home workouts and businesses online? Interesting that these things started back then and not more recent.
17. Now the marketing for this one is pretty cool.
18. Clearly this is when educating with the internet started becoming popular practice.
These 80s advertisements are quite interesting and I think I noticed a few key things. It's interesting to see what they promoted along with their computers and how they made the advertisements appealing to people.
Obviously, their advertising worked because computers are common in every household now.
